I think my passion for design came from the early days of trailing my mom into local 'asia' grocery stores. The one that stands out in particular was East East Oriental Market in St. Louis. While she would load up on exotic delectables from the far east and peruse the latest Korean VHS bootlegs, I would spend what felt like forever in the elaborate candy isle. My eyeballs danced from one brightly colored illustrative package to another. And through time, the bangers would start to emerge; Yan Yan, Lotte Fruit Candy, Red Bean Ice Cream and of course, Pocky.
Silly narrow-minded young me tried the Chocolate Pocky and simply locked it in, never giving any other flavors the time of day. It was only until like 3 years ago that I ventured out and courageously attempted a new flavor that I have never tried before – enter Strawberry Pocky.
The moral of the story? Don't be like young me. Try things. You just might find your strawberry Pocky.
